Sexual Health Inclusivity during Family Talks
for Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer Girls

Supported by the Penn Nursing Office of Nursing Research/Center for Global Women's Health Endowed Research Fund, this proposed study will collect qualitative data from parents and their cisgender lesbian, bisexual, or queer-identifying female adolescents (henceforth LBQ adolescents) to uncover how parent-child sex communication at home may be leveraged to minimize negative health outcomes. Through interviews, focus groups, and card-sorts, the main aim is to identify sexual health issues pertinent to LBQ adolescents’ emerging attractions, behaviors, and identities to inform the development of an intervention targeting this youth population.
