Research Assistants


We accept research assistant applications throughout the year. Research assistants to work in several research projects focused on HIV prevention and LGBT health. The research assistants will work under the guidance of faculty, senior research personnel, and/or project/department managers. Research assistants will be expected to work independently and as part of a group. Perform research tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting literature reviews 

  • Participating in research study team meetings 

  • Preparing materials for submission to IRB

  • Assisting in participant recruitment and retention activities across studies

  • Assisting in programming and testing of surveys

  • Assisting in data entry and audio transcription 

  • Participate in social media activities

  • Assisting in analysis and coding of qualitative and quantitative data 

  • Assisting in manuscript and conference presentation preparation

  • Performing routine project maintenance tasks as needed 


  • Interested undergraduate and graduate applicants should have a strong interest in HIV and/or LGBT health research.

  • They should be detail-oriented, hard working and eager to work as a part of a team.

  • Applicants must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to interact appropriately and effectively with a diverse range of persons and communities.

  • Computer skills are necessary and should include familiarity with Word and Excel.

  • Prior experience and/or a willingness to learn Qualtrics and/or Dedoose is important.


Work can be a paid hourly position and/or a work-study position.
