Past Projects

UHIP (United for HIV Integration and Policy Project) Detroit is an examination of how structural factors may place Black and Latino young men who have sex with men and transgender populations (BLYMSM) in the Detroit Metro Area (DMA) at higher risk for infection with HIV. We lead and participate in several multilevel research projects seeking to understand and address the social and structural factors shaping the HIV/STI epidemics among racial/ethnic and sexual and gender minority youth.

In collaboration with our community partners, we provide concrete recommendations to promote the social well-being of Black and Latino YMSM, identify key social processes that may be suitable for multilevel HIV/AIDS intervention, and provide strategies to advocate for the human rights and sexual agency of BLYMSM in the DMA.
